MSD 6AL, PN 6425 replaces 6420
The MSD 6AL Ignition Control
set the standards that other ignitions strive to reach. In fact, you’ll find
ignitions from other companies that carry the 6AL name (and in some cases, the
same part number). For 2011, the bar has been raised even higher as we introduce
the all new Digital 6AL Ignition Control!
MSD started with a clean slate and drew up plans for an all new housing. We kept
the same footprint as the traditional 6AL but lowered the profile for a sleek
look. The wiring is all routed out one end of the unit through a sealed and
locking connector. This eases installation and keeps your wiring looking neat
and clean. The rev limiter was moved right on top of the housing for easy access
to the two rotary dials to set the limit in 100 rpm increments.
Inside the Digital 6AL you’ll find a microprocessor that monitors and controls
every firing and rev limit. The circuits are updated with efficient components
that help the ignition produce more power while drawing less current! In fact,
the new Digital 6AL delivers over 530 volts to the coil with up to 135mJ of
spark energy for every firing! Increased output combined with MSD’s proven
multiple spark series is a win-win situation!
The new Digital 6AL are supplied with the wiring harness and the components
you’ll need for installation. The 6AL is also supplied with vibration mounts.
Both ignitions are compatible on 4, 6 or 8-cylinder engines with 12-volt,
negative ground electrical systems. They’ll accept trigger inputs from breaker
points, amplifiers and magnetic pickups.

Crane Cams HI-6 Digital CD Magnetic
When Crane tested its new HI-6 ignitions (with optional PS-91 coils), they
produced twice the ignition energy of a leading competitor's boxes. They're
designed to work with engines from 10:1 to 14.5:1 compression ratios, nitrous,
superchargers, or turbos. Made for street and racing use, they come with Crane's
"Plug-n-Go" universal harness to cover most installations, with optional
harnesses available separately. Their built-in rev limiter automatically drops
cylinders in firing order to prevent fuel loading and is adjustable by
increments of 100 from 600-9,900 rpm without any chips. Other built-in features
include a tach accuracy check, a system problems check for easy problem
diagnosis, and crossfire protection for supercharged and turbo applications.
They feature solid-state construction that's immune to vibration and shock and
an anodized heat-sink shell for reliability. Crane also offers them in Import
Power versions that have the same features and are available in four different
colors. They're compatible with points and electronic ignitions and work with 4,
6, and 8-cylinder engines with distributors.
